Venice room with a view...and a balcony?

Hi All,
I'm very excited about a forthcoming trip to Venice - I'm travelling alone and staying for a week, end of June/beginning of July. I have visited Venice before but was staying in Padua and it was a long time ago, so I'm not up to speed with hotels there.

Although I will be getting out and about and seeing as much as I can, more than anything I'd love a room where I can sit on a balcony or terrace with a drink and watch the world go by. Just a nice view with somewhere to sit and admire it would be wonderful. Do you know of this place? I'm afraid I can't afford the Gritti or the Danieli, so the cheaper the better, but I'd be willing to splash out a little for a good balcony! That's all I ask,
Thanks,
Emma

For a hotel, you would need to request a specific room number. The rooms with terraces in boutique hotels are often booked a year or more in advance by regular visitors and/or their friends. On this short notice, you could get something in one of the larger hotels but the price will be premium.

You might find better luck with an apartment. Terraces, especially on the Grand Canal, will always come at a premium. http://www.venice-rentals.com/ has some lovely properties but I have a feeling you may be too late to book something with a terrace overlooking a water view. But you never know until you inquire.

Eliminating the Gritti or Danieli, doesn't narrow down your preferred price all that much. Can you say your hotel budget is per night?

We stayed at the following apartment in Venice in Oct 2008. It had a balconey big enough for 2 people and a great view of gondaliers right below you. The price was perfect! I would stay here again.

Thanks for all your help everyone, that apartment does look beautiful and a lovely view from the balcony! I might just go for that one!
Thanks,
Emma

I also wanted a similar room that was affordable and ended up choosing Leon Bianco because it was on the Grand Canal. It doesn't have a balcony but the windows were to the floor and you sit on the small window ledge. The gondolas make a turn at that coner and it was great sipping wine and watching the activity on the canal. You can watch all the activity at the fish market across the canal in the morning. Have a fun trip.

Wow I'm very impressed with that one too, thanks! Your description is exactly what I'm looking for. Oh the choice!
