Venice Pensione Accademia

We will be staying at the Accademia in April. Flying in to Venice, the water bus goes to Zattere. Is the walk to the Accademia doable with light bags, or should we splurge on a water taxi which would take us right ot the dock?

It was long ago that we stayed at the Accademia. It was a lovely hotel with great views of two canals. Although I do not remember what stop we got off at, we never took a private water taxi in Venice. So I know we took the the public water bus and walked not too far. It is certainly manageable.

You just walk alongside the Rio San Trovaso until you reach the last (third) bridge, cross it, turn right and you are there. I use for mapping Venice. You can find the Accademia using the quick hotel search. You can find "Zattere" by searching "Waterbus stops". You could also use Googlemaps - their computer prefers the second bridge - which suggests a walking time of 5 minutes.

the hotel should tell you the best way to get there.

by waterbus I assume you mean the alilaguna, and I assume that the one you want is running at the time that you are likely to arrive. on our return trip to the airport, we discovered that the one we wanted from the rialto bridge stop didn't run after 4pm.

you can pick up a vaporetto pass [which may or may not include the alilaguna - your choice] or alilaguna tickets from the enquiries desk at the airport - straight ahead of you as you exit customs.

have a great trip

regards, ann
