Venice or Paris?

We are tentatively planning a trip back to Positano next June. We went this past June for the first time and fell in love with it. We will spend 5 days on the Amalfi coast and are thinking about where to spend a few more days. We have been to Tuscany, Rome, Florence. We were thinking of Venice, since we've never been. The idea of going to Paris instead has also been thrown out there. We've been to Paris before, but hey, it's Paris! If you had to choose, which would you choose in this case, Paris or Venice. Thanks!

Such a lovely choice to make. You know that both cities are great, and having been to both, I would choose Paris. But, you haven't been to both yet so clearly you should go to Venice!

Paris is wonderful.....but if you've never been to Venice...GO TO VENICE!!!

Then the following year you will be even more confused...Paris? Venice?
So do as I'm doing....spitting my time between both!!

Given that you are in Italy already, I would stay put and go to Venice. It is an awesome city but is more under threat in the future than Paris. I'd see it now whilst it's still a vibrant and beautiful place.

I agree, with the masses. You'll be close enough that you shouldn't miss Venice.

In theory I'd pick Paris, but since you are in Italy and never been to Venice... that's my pick for this trip too. It is amazing and totally unique.

Venice.

Well as much as I like Venice, I wouldn't follow the reasoning of "since you're so close". Positano is not THAT close to Venice. I'd probably look at flying from Naples to either Venice and Paris, and since it's pretty much just as easy, cheap, and quick to fly to either, I'd go with whichever you really wanted to do. Also you can easily get a flight home from Paris -- open jaw, often easier than a flight home from Venice.

On the other hand, with two destinations, I'd like the idea of one I'd been to before and one new, so that means Venice for you.

I love 'em both, but I love Venice more. The city is truly one of the must-sees on the planet, and since you've never seen it...

Venice every time!

Venice !! so you have a more complete vision of Italy, being already there.

Save Paris for another trip, combined with an extension to Loira Valley Castles, Mt St. Michel and Normandy !!
