Venice Marathon

Have you ever ran in the venice marathon before?

Grandma Sep 8th, 2007 01:37 PM

No... but we had our own marathon trying to get to the train station the morning the runners arrived in Venice. (We were unaware !!?? and nobody at our hotel warned us. Vaporetto went all around Robin Hood's Barn to get to the station.) It was raining that morning and I saw a runner slip and fall over on Dosodoro (sp?)... so be careful if it rains!

I've never run it, but a coworker has. He said it was a remarkable experience, especially going up t he Accademia bridge the next day....he could barely walk from the soreness but said it was fun.

Yikes! We will be in Venice October 26 - 29. Will the marathon impact the ability to access any sites or places we might want to see?

We were in Florence a few years ago when there was a huge marathon - I don't know if it was as large as the Venice Marathon looks to be, but it was fun watching the runners.
