Venice lodging in December
We've booked our tix to Venice for the week between Christmas and New Year's and are now searching for lodging within our budget. So far, the cheapest we've found is 75 Euro for a double room, not including breakfast. Anyone familiar with bargain places in Venice that are around the price range?
Thanks for your recommendations and happy travels! |
Between Christmas and New Year is quite busy in Venice, so inexpensive accomodation may be hard to find. If you're there for more than a few days you might consider an apartment. Try www.veniceapartments.org or venicerentals.com. I've rented from both. I rented a studio apartment from venice apartments.org last Jan-Feb for 60e a night.

As maryk said CH/NY is a High Season, busy and hotel price must be the highest of the year. So €75 is a exptremely low rate. I say this without knowing the location/level of the hotel you found. Which one is it? On Venice proper? Without breakast is a bit unusual but I had a such last June at Hotel san Maurizio, a single without breakfast for €60 in San Marco area. A tiny room and bathroom was a common one outside the room. This was the only time I had a room that did not included a breakfast.

I think 70ish Euro is the lowest we'll be able to do... We're now booked at Hotel Campiello which does include breakfast in its price so that'll save a few bucks here and there. Can't wait!

I'm surprised you got the rate €70 for that hotel at the prime location for that time. I checked on Venere.com with dates e.g.from 24Dec to 02 Jan or 26Dec to 28Dec but the best I got was €150-160. Did you actually get the offer from the hotel or from a site? If yes, I think you should grab it. Venre's review is very good too. Sorry but that price is almost unbelievable. If they do offer that price in that time, I would consider staying there myself! Rive degli Schiavone (spl?) should not be that crowded in that season. Languagge, can you reply? I'm really interested.

I contacted the hotel directly and they offered me that rate for their economy double which apparently must be the teeniest tiniest hotel room possible but we don't mind at that price.

Thanks language for your reply. Tiniest room still with bathroom? Sounds a great deal to me so that you can be in Venice in that time for such a price. Enjoy. Probably they don't have such room more than one.
