Venice: La Calcina or Hotel American?

Both have great reviews, are in the area we want to stay, and are in our price range...which makes it hard to choose. Will be going on my honeymoon next June and really want the perfect place...please help! Would love any feedback on both, Thanks!

La Calcina
Pension Accademia
Locanda Barbarigo
Are all good choices.

Oops, right after I posted this message I realized I did not post it in the right forum (Italy)...thanks for the advice though!

Krista,

Book early. I tried La Calcina about 8 months out and they were full already. We ended up at Casa Rezzonico, also in Dorsoduro, which really enjoyed.

Only know Pensione La Calcina but have stayed there twice and loved it! Request a canal view corner room. Very elegant without being fussy. Well run place. Very nice breakfast included in room rate that you can have in-room, on the patio over the canal, or in a small dining room. Room service also available, like for cocktails. There's a tiny rooftop terrace that you can reserve at the front desk.
