Venice, Italy restaurants not to miss

I know some of you have a favorite restaurant that you never miss when your in Venice. Please share the news, the price doesn't matter, but around 80 Euros should be okay for two none drinkers.

My favorite restaurant in Venice is a table in San Marco after dark, listening to the music, sipping prosecco and munching on hors d'oeuvres. All for under 80 euros.

Our favorite restaurant is Corte Sconta…. discovered it in the 80's and have been every trip since. Maybe 80 Euros for lunch? (I'm out of touch the last few years..) but part of the fun is their prosecco (lite, bubbly wine….)

Agree with vincenzo about San Marco…. even tho it's pricey…. worth every penny on a clear, moonlit nite -

It is nice to sit at Florian in Piazza San Marco on a warm night listening to the orchestras (However, one does get tired of New York, New York), but there are other campos (piazzas) that are atmospheric yet have cafes that aren't so expensive-- Campo San Barnaba, Campo Santa Maria Formosa, Campo San Giacomo dell'Orio, Campo dei Mori, Campo SS. Giovanni e Paolo. Also the Zattere.

Good, inexpensive restaurant near Strada Nova: Ai Promessi Sposi.

It would help, guv, if you told us where you are staying.

Thin… all those campos are nice to plop down while exploring or if near one's hotel. But… on just the right nite there is nothing like San Marco
(unless New York New York has become ubiquitous -

Our favorite restaurant in Venice is Al Covo which specializes in fresh seafood. It is near the waterfront about a five minute walk east of San Marco.

Our favourite was a small restaurant recommended by our hotel.
One we really liked was 'le bistrot de Paris', where the food was great and based on old recipies.
All waiters spoke French (hence the name), which was quite handy for us..

People keep saying it's pricey, but I disagree. You get wine, hors d'oeuvres, an outdoor concert, and stay as long as you like. I can't remember what it cost, but I'm almost certain it was less than the OP's benchmark 80 euros. (I also don't remember them playing "New York, New York" the last time I was there.)

We usually do it on days when we've had a big lunch and don't want a large evening meal. Then we top it off with a gelato and a stroll along the Zattere.

If someone prefers sitting in a restaurant to that type of evening, I wish them well.

> 'le bistrot de Paris'

Probably that's le Bistrot de VENISE.

I have no "not to miss" restarants. I do have favorite ones though.

80 euros for 2, even for non-drinkers, is not a lot of money for dinner in Venice if you want memorable food or a memorable venue.

I agree with the strategy of spending the money on a memorable venue, even if only for a non-alcoholic cocktail or tea or coffee in a fabulous or historic setting, or perhaps spend the money on one highly recommended restaurant for classic Venetian cuisine if you like seafood. (I would NOT spend money to eat non-Venetian food in Venice, including meat dishes.)

Otherwise, just make a list of places near your hotel that aren't awful and not fuss about food in Venice. Most people's "favorite" restaurants are ones where they are treated well, or for some reason other than food had a happy experience (or they were happy with the bill).

Thanks Pepper, We will be staying on a cruise ship at the port. We just wanted to make sure we tried the local food and culture.
