Venice in March or September?
I would like to visit Venice in either of these months, but not sure which is the best. Ideally Id like the hotel prices to be low and the weather to be warm. I believe the Carnival is also on sometime in March but the weather is warmer in September. I am aware that Venice is a pricey city all year round, but its a dream for me to visit there and Id like to make the most of any time i can spend there.

We have just returned yesterday from Venice. The weather was fabulous, Saturday through the day was very busy but other days were just right. Buy a 3 day Vaporetto pass, what value. We stayed at fabulous hotel, the cleanest I have every stayed at called Locando Nova near S Apostili Square. Just one word of caution beware when getting off a bus in P Roma as you will be directed to a water taxi by what seems to be a very helpful Italian but if you get in will pay a very high price.
Visit Torcello and Burano but give Murano a miss. Do not miss St Marks square late at night when orchestras are playing.

September for sure. March more than likely to chilly and rainy. September could also be chilly and rainy, but at least somewhat more likely that the weather will be nice.

The Carnival next year is from 21 February to 4 March, according to www.carnivalofvenice.com.

The bands won't be playing outside in P. San Marco in March, but they will be in September, both day and evening. For this reason alone, I would pick September.

We were in Venice the last week in September last year. The weather could not have been more perfect. The hotel prices were not especially low. It was our third trip to Venice and the best time of year possible.

Hi-Just came back from Venice about a week and a half ago. Weather is great-in the low to mid 70's. My vote is for September. Explore Venice at night-it is awesome and very safe!
