Venice in February?

I am spending a few days in Venice at the end of a month long stay in Rome. Has anyone been there at the end of Feb? What's the weather like? I've booked a room at Pensione Accademia because of the recommendations on this board. Any of your thoughts would be welcome. I'll be solo, sadly, unless I meet a Casanova in Roma!

It will likely be cold but not freezing, F 35 to 45, probably with overcast skies. Carnival is sometime in February around Lent and you might want to try Venice at that time for the experience.

massagediva, it will be cold. It could be very cold! You will have the Adriatic Sea there, and the Dolomties/Alps to the north. But if you bring the proper clothes and dress for the weather as the Venitians and the population of Veneto do you will be fine. And Venice is wonderful no matter when, in fact in a way when you are going is more magical.

Now about a Casanova from Roma. Hmmmm, if you can' drag one from Roma to Venezia (Venice) bet they have a few local ones there in Venezia, don't you think? Good journey (and good luck!)

Bring some layers of heavy clothes, a raincoat, umbrella, and some boots. 70% chance you will need them..

We did Carnivale in Venice this past February. It snowed and was sleeting for the days we were there. I think this is not the norm because the Osteria where we had lunch for 4 hours one afternoon said that the weather is usually cold but no snowy and that it was having a very bad effect on what is generally a very busy time.

Dress in layers as the vaporettos are especially cold. Umbrella, gloves, hat jsut in case.
