We were in Venice May 17-21 2007 and visited the Guggenheim - it was the original palazzo including the burial site of Peggy's precious pooches and the very erect statue out back... Perhaps they had just completed the renovation as everything was clean and freshly painted and beautiful.

Thank you Gruezi. I was hoping to see the collection in the Peggy's Palazzo (and her garden).

Tara3056, I'll check out your report....thx. I better make sure to book Vini da Gigio and maybe do La Zucca for lunch (pref. at the outdoor tables). Do you know if I'd need reservations for lunch? I hear that it's not the greatest, but I go cuckoo for squash/pumpkin.

Tara3056...GREAT trip report. Vini da Gigio is a definite MUST!

I esp. loved your "Post-trip" Tara notes!

Dear Annhig,

Thanks to your eagle eyes, I was able to read the English version of Teatro La Fenice. Checked all the days we're going to be in Venice - April 2 through April 6 - and - DAMN - there don't seem to be any performances. I tried to see if I could get information about a tour of the theatre, either an audiophone or a group version, but my Italian isn't good enough to understand what I came up with.

Readytotravel,

Click the very small UK flag at the bottom of the home page on the La Fenice website and Voila....translates to "English".

Have fun.

hi, ready2travel,

it seems that you are right about te hlack of performances at La Fenice on those dates. I suppose they might schedule something closer to the date.

to look at the tour info, go to the midddle column headed "information centre" and you'll find teh section "tours". There's nothing there for 2008 yet though.

There are also concerts at the wonderfully named palazzo querino-stampalia, which is behind St. Marco, just off the Campo st. M Formosa. plus lots that you can find out about when you're there - very heavy on the vivaldi as you might imagine. I remember reading/hearing about some which at a palazzo overlooking the grand canal - your hotel should be able to help.

regards, Ann
