Venice in 2 days

Hi,
Need help on planning my 2 days in Venice.

I plan to reach Venice at Marco Polo airport, and stay somewhere around the airport .
Travel to mainland using the Vaporetto and visit the following places in a span of 2 days

1.St Mark’s Basilica
2. Doge's Palace
3. Grand Canal (I guess, this is where the vaporetto moves )
4. Rialto Bridge
5. Campanile di San Marco
6. Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari
7. Gondola ride at dusk(if possible)

Apart from this, we plan to stroll around the streets for food and shopping.

Is this a good plan??? Am I missing something??
Also, is it easy and safe to travel the Vaporetto anytime? (coz , we need to reach back to hotel near airport at night)

Awaiting Suggestions.

Also, forgot to ask - Do I need to book for the Vaporetto online, or buy when i reach there?

Same question for all the visits to Basilica, Palace etc

You list of sites for two days looks fine.

However, you cannot travel from the mainland to the island using a vaporetto. If you stay at an airport hotel, chances are you will need to take a land bus to Piazzale Roma where you will be able to board a vaporetto or walk to your destination.

I recommend you consider a hotel on the island of Venice. Why are you choosing to stay nar the airport?

You can buy tickets or an unlimited travel card for the vaporetto when you arrive.

Staying at the airport and trekking back and forth to Venice is a really bad idea. You can;t do it by vaporetto - only by alliguna - a long ride or the bus to Pza Roma and a vapororetto from there. This will ensure you are in Venice when is most mobbed with tourists - and not in the evenings when it is much more pleasant.

I have no idea what services are available in the area around the airport - but would check before assuming you have easy access to shops and restaurants.

IMHO you are missing the key points of visiting Venice.

let me chime in to add to those who say staying near the airport isn't a good idea. The trip is not a quick or cheap one so you aren't likely to save time or money. And you are likely to miss Venice at its best. You have only 2 days - stay in Venice.

ok, so if i stay in mainland venice, what would be the best way to get there from airport?

The best way to the airport varies by your location in Venice and the hour at what hour you need to travel to the airport.

If you have lots of money or are traveling in a group, a private water taxi will cost about 100 euro for your entire group of up to 6 (or perhaps 8) people.

The Alilaguna is a ferry (not vaporetto) that stops at various locations in Venice and goes to the airport. If you stay at a hotel near one of its stops, it would be easy to get to the airport--costs about 15 euro per person.

Another option is to take a vaporetto from your hotel to Piazzale Roma and catch the land bus to the airport. The bus costs about 6 euro per person. The vaporetto cost will vary depending on whether or not you purchased and unlimited travel card.

If you stay near Piazzale Roma, you could walk to the land bus.
