Venice Hotels - Please rank
 

I'm down to three hotels for two to three nights. I'd greatly appreciate any input or rankings of these properties. We've never been to Venice before and will be there in late June.<BR><BR>Hotels are:<BR>Hotel Gritti Palace<BR>The Westin Europa and Regina<BR>Hotel Danieli

I have always stayed at Cipriani while in Venice, however, I have been to Danieli for drinks. It is one of the best hotels in Italy. All three hotels you listed are among the best in Venice, so you can't go wrong with any of them. That said, in my opinion, the best room in Venice has a view of the canals. Pick the hotel that is going to garantee a room with a view.

I have stayed at the Europa Regina and love the location. The hotel has been renovated since I was there. I am going in June also but have opted for the Danieli only because I want to splurge one place during my trip to Italy. I visited their lobby and loved it. The virtual tour does not look like our room will be all that great. At the Europa we had a huge room and bathroom-city view with balcony. I don't think you could go wrong with any of them. Was told the Danieli has high traffic which is ok with me. Access to the Europa is thru quiet pathway. Suposedly there is a vaporetti to pick you up at the airport....

I stayed at the Europa Regina and Danieli hotels. Both hotels are great.<BR>However some rooms may be quite small at the Europa and Regina.<BR><BR>And courtyards views have to be expected at both hotels, unless you book a special room category (with canal or lagoon view).<BR>However the Westin tends to upgrade you more often (should you be a Starwood Preferred Guest).

You have picked 3 of the top hotels in Venice, 3 of the top hotels in Europe.<BR>Your likes and dislikes will come down to exactly which sort of room you get.<BR>I have not stayed at the hotels, but I am familiar with them. In terms of location I give the ER an edge. The Danieli imo is in the Venice equivalent of Times Square (tho' I rush to add that Venice's Times Square is 1/100th as busy and 100 times as charming.)

I have stayed at the Europa Regina and have checked out the Gritti and Danieli. Personally, I like a smaller hotel with more personalized service and I feel the Gritti would give you that since it's smaller than the other two. Between the Danieli and Europa Regina, I would pick it according to the kind of room you could get at each property. Our room at the Europa was nice, but nothing special like others have mentioned. The Danieli has a &quot;newer' wing which our friends got stuck with expecting a grand room for their honeymoon. While in Venice, I went to the Luna Baglioni and saw a few rooms; this is where I would stay next time. Hope this helps!

I have only stayed at the Europa and Regina, twice in canal views on the good side and once with once on the bad side. I would prefer it or the Gritti to the Danelli because both of the former are directly on the Grand Canal while the Danelli requires crossing the street (Riva degli Schiavoni) before reaching the canal. The street is broad and littered with tourists.

I was thinking of going to the Danieli, but I am getting much better rates at the Bauer Palazzo. Any thoughts about this hotel?

I believe the Bauer is one of the best hotels there are in Venice, correct?

The Bauer features two hotels : the Bauer (Fifties style building and the Palazzo direct on the Grand Canal).<BR>If you've got better rates for the Palazzo (vs Danieli), that's great.<BR>However I cannot comment this hotel in terms of service, etc... since I did not stay there.

Have you considered the Luna Baglioni? We stayed in the Luna and thoroughly enjoyed the location, room size (our triple was huge and had a side canal view), and hosptility.
