Venice Hotels-- please help me choose!
After many e-mails & faxes, the only two hotels that can accomodate us for 3 consecutive nights for our honeymoon in early October is either the Hotel Campiello (L290,000) or Locanda Sturion (L330,000 or L313,500 paying cash). The Sturion is a little out of our price range, but the price difference between these two is not that great. Does one have an advantage over the other? Has anyone stayed at either of these hotels? If so, would you recommend them and why? Unfortunately, the other popular places listed on this forum (Gambero, La Calcina, Galleria) can only either accomodate us for two nights or are booked. I am still waiting to hear back on the Piave, Seguso, Accademia, San Moise, & Santi Apostoli. Any advise on these hotels is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Kim

While Seguso certainly has good rates (and includes dinner as well as breakfast) there have been some very mixed reviews of it here lately. Don't think I'd book it for a honeymoon. Agli Alboretti, Accademia, Flora and Bisanzio have gotten consistently good reviews lately. Sturion is very small and near the Rialto Bridge so good location but don't know about the rooms. Good luck and congratulations.

The San Moise has been highly praised here by at least one poster (and I can vouch for its excellent location), although I don't think the rooms offer views. I don't think I 've ever read a bad thing about the Accademia, which is perhaps 10-15 minutes stroll farther from San Marco than the San Moise. Some rooms there have views of canals and/or gardens.

Awww, I love the Seguso! We stay there every time we get to Venice and they take nice care of us, especially Franca in the dining room. Once you get past her gruff exterior, she's a big squishy marshmallow! She cried when we left last time.
Tinder
