Venice Hotels help needed
 

Traveling to italy from march 2nd to march 20t hand will be in venice from the 16th to the 20th(fly out).
Have already narrowed my earch in rome down to 3 thanks to the help here.

Now looking for help in Venice, is it better to stay on one of the islands? Looking for something for a romantic type trip from 100 to 160 euros a night, but if its it can't miss will go more.

Thanks for any input.

Get some prices, look at websites and reviews here and at tripadvisor, and then perhaps come back here to compare and contrast your preferences

I really like Flora, but it's well over this budget.

We liked the Ala. It is historic and within a couple of blocks from Piazza San Marco and a short walk down an alley to the Grand Canal.

The hotel arranged for a boat to take us to Mirano, free (except for a tip, of course). The boat waited for us while we browsed and saw a glass blowing demonstration.

The breakfast was good.

I would want to stay in Venice proper not out on an island or suburb. That is by far the most romantic to my mind.

A couple years ago, my husband and I stayed at Pensione Accademia and it was wonderful. I am pretty picky about hotels, but this place was a gem. A GREAT location, very friendly staff, good breakfast and very clean, charming and romantic rooms. We will definitely be going back.

I liked this 3* hotel, and I think it's in your price range. I suspect the jacuzzi suite would be very nice (but not sure what it costs):

I stayed at the Hotel Spagna(www.hotel-spagna.it) this September and loved it... for its price and service. Personally, it makes sense to saty at Canareggio (near the Santa Lucia station), drop your bags on arrival and explore venice on foot.

Unfortunately the Giorgione has gone 4* and is now 200Eu (+)... Try Hotal Ala - excellent location and while I didn't stay there, it was higlhy recommended.

Stayed at La Locandiera in September 150 Euro per night. Had a small elevator which came in handy. Also had a bathtub in the bathroom which was nice for a soak after a long day of walking around. Very convenient location, 5 mins. to San Marco.

Excellent 3* hotel -- Hotel Antiche Figure. Splurge and get a room facing the Grand Canal.

See what laconda Sturion has to offer, but be sure you can climb long flight of stairs and carry your luggage as well.

We spent 4 nights last month in Venice at the Hotel Galleria and loved it. We had Room #10, which was huge and had two windows overlooking the Grand Canal. They brought breakfast to your room on a silver tray and we would eat it while watching the morning's traffic on the Canal. It was wonderful. The location can't be beat, right next to the Accademia Bridge. The hosts were very helpful, and the price was only 155E/night, with a discount for paying in cash.

Lovely and gracious Venetian owners, nice breakfast, small place -- it is several floors up in an old (well, duh, it is Venice!) building. Like staying in an elegant yet friendly apartment.

The rooms have nice Venetian decor and modern baths. The owners will send you to good, out-of-the way restaurants down dark and mysterious passgeways (my idea of romantic!).

If you need an elevator and room service, forget it. If you want gracious and helpful hosts and a very Venetian atmosphere, check out their website. I didn't stay there on my last trip because I was with two friends and we were really budgeting, but stayed there 3 years ago and still remember it very fondly...
