Venice Hotels: Al Ponte Mocenigo? Oltre Il Giardino? Locanda Orseolo?
We are trying to decide on a hotel for Venice (3 nights in Aug).
Al Ponte Mocenigo and Oltre Il Giardino are appx the same price (145-150E) and Locanda Orseolo is slightly more (about $35E/night). They all have great reviews on tripadvisor... I'm having a hard time deciding. (we'd almost definitely be in a double, no suites, if that makes a difference) Thanks! |
You're looking for August 09, correct? Locanda Orseola is a huge fave here on Fodor's (and elsewhere), so I'd be extremely surprised if you'd find any availability there.

all 3 had availability on their websites...

I am a huge fan of Al Ponte Mocenigo and would stay there again in a minute. It's small and close to transportation but just removed enough to feel like you've gotten away from the crowd. Plus there are a number of good. reasonaby priced dining options nearby.
However, if this is your honeymoon, I think Locanda Orseola will be a bit more special. |
We stayed at Al Ponte Mocenigo a few years ago. The first room we had was lovely - light and bright decor with a viw of the side canal. The second room we had was totally done in dark red and felt claustrophobic due to the color but also because the samml window faced the wall of the next building. So, if you book there, ask about the room.

Geez, I need more coffee - the words are "view" and "small".
|
are the most basic rooms in Locanda Orseolo really tiny? it's hard to tell on tripadvisor since most people stayed in the canal view rooms but those are booked
