Venice Hotel on a Budget (With AC)
Hello, I am traveling with my mother in June so air conditioning is a must. I'm looking for a triple room, on a budget of course. :) Preferably something easily accessible from the main train station on the canal. Thanks!

Adags-I can think of the perfect Locanda in Cannaregio-just a few minutes walk from the train station, with doubles and triples, and a quad as well-lovely, fantastic location (I'm a confirmed "Cannaregiota" as the locals are called in this area) so can tell you that everything you want-restaurants, shopping, supermarket, gondolas, ancient churches, vaporettos, action-all right outside your door on Calle Priuli. LA LOCANDA DI ORSARIA- it gets excellent reviews on Trip Advisor as well. It has a/c, minibars, spacious rooms, and a REAL plus-mosquito netting so that you can open your windows and enjoy the colorful Venetian life going on around you-something you cannot do in the spring and summer in Venice without getting bitten to death-trust me!

I liked La Forcola hotel. It's cheap sometimes, and it has A/C. Not sure about your dates, of course. It's pretty easy to get to from the train station.

It would probably be helpful to know what you consider a budget price for a triple room. Everything in Venice is very expensive compared to my idea of budget accommodations.
|
You may want to consider getting two rooms instead of one. Triples are hard to come by. Some years ago, we traveled with 3 sons. We were able to find a triple with a bath and then took a double for us across the hall that did not have a bath. We shared! Sometimes you have to think creatively with the challenges European travel presents. The hotel we could afford did not have a/c nor misquito nets, but we survived. Your mother may require more. Shop wisely. Venice is extremely expensive.

Stayed at Hotel Carlton Capri, which was affordable at the time. Near San Simeon Piccolo church, across grand Canal from Santa Lucia train station, not far from Piazzale Roma where bus from airport drops off. Had a great breakfast too.

Adags-one other place, excellently located near the Ca d'Oro metro stop, by a bridge just off the main shopping thoroughfare, Strada Nova, they have a triple starting at 115 Euro, a/c and safe. This place comes recommended by an American expat in Venice:

Scusi-make that "vaporetto" stop (smile)

Thanks so much for your help! I will check them all out.

As above, I'd also look at getting 1 single, and 1 double. I don't know about your Mom, but I *really* like my own room.
Pretty much anywhere located in central Venice is easy enough to get to from the train station using the vaporetto. |
I was impressed with the price that Girlspytravel gave above for Al Palazzetto so I went to their website. They have their double starting from 90E. So I emailed them for a quote for my dates in early June. It would be 145E per night. The 90E is only a "starting from" price and apparently that would be low season and a longer stay. I think their website could be clearer on this point.

I'm going for the bed and breakfast. It looks beautiful and is the right price. Thanks!!

May I ask what price they quoted you for a triple in June? You don't have to say, if you don't want to. I am just curious if (and how much) it differed from the "starting from" price.
