Venice Hotel on a budget....impossible????!!!!
I have spent so much time looking for a reasonably priced hotel in Venice (E100 - E120), and have had no luck.
THose found on venere.com were already booked. Travelocity.com offered just a few options that did not work either. I have searched this forum to find suggestions, and still no luck. If anyone has any suggestions and is willing to share, I would soooo appreciate it. I am only looking for a couple of days in May. Cant believe I have had little or no luck with this. Thank you again for your time, Really, thank you! |
Well - you're very late in looking for a superbudget accommodation. the decent ones are usually gone months in advance.
Have you searched on this board for optiions - since a lot of other people have asked this question? Have you checked out the Lido? I usually reco against this becasue of the inconvenience - but I know there are some simple B&Bs there we had to use for junior staff - sorry - it was 5 years ago and don't have the names. |
Yes, I realize I am a little late to look for a deal but I figured I would at least find a few...
I have serached this forum, and followed up with a few hotel that were suggested... No luck so far, though. |
Just checked out Expedia and they seemed to have couple of things - but don;t know your dates. And naturaly some places in Mestre if you can bear that.
So why not look at Expedia, Orbitz etc - and, if intereted, contact hotels directly to see if you can get a better price. |
Check veniceby.com. I tried random dates in May just now and the only things that came up in your price range were a couple of self-catering flats, one near San Marco. I'd probably go for one of those, but I like staying in apartments.
Good luck, and enjoy Venice. |
Don't give up yet. You may still find something. Even if things are completely booked today, there may be cancellations tomorrow. I also had luck last May w/ www.veniceby.com, as mentioned above.
3 of us stayed at "Ca'Turelli" B&B for 120 euros (triple); our friends had a double there a few days before us for 110 Euros. Of course, that was last year and the prices may be higher. I would definitely give it a shot. Look for it under B&Bs on the veniceby site. The other reasonably priced place we were considering staying on last year's trip was Al Campaniel B&B, which others on this site often suggest: www.alcampaniel.com |
Try http://www.cross-pollinate.com/ which is recommened on the Rick Steves site
|
Try this site:
http://www.turismovenezia.it/eng/dynalay.asp?PAGINA=437 Of course, it does not make recommendations, only provides a listing with prices. B&Bs might be cheaper than hotels, although we paid 70€ already two years ago for a room that I would not recommend. |
Hi
This is a bargain if you can get in - http://www.cabonvicini.com. Try also http://www.diaconiavaldese.org:8080/venezia/. What about an apartment? This one - http://www.venetianholidays.it - quoted €100 a night for a 3 night stay in mid May. It's the Sarasina - looks very nice and spacious. Good luck |
Hello e17345,
I don't know what area of Venice you prefer, but we are staying near train station (for early Morning departure), for 100 euros. We are confirmed on May 22 at hotel San Geremia for a double with bathroom and breakfast. I have NO IDEA what to expect, but we found it listed in RS and Frommers, both. They are very kind, speak English, and allow cancelations in 7 days. Hope this helps. C |

bookmarking.....good luck

Try tripadvisor.com. You can put in your price as well as your dates and also see customer reviews. I just tried a few arbitrary dates in May and found far less than I did when I was looking a few months ago, but don't give up. I found a place called Palazzo Duodo that looks pretty good for 130E p/nite (www.palazzoduodo.com), I booked it just last month for the 1st and 2nd of June...
Good Luck! |
Try here:
http://www.laforcolahotel.com If your dates are weekend dates, that will make it difficult and expensive. You'll have better luck with a Sunday to Thursday stay. |
I am sure there are possibilities for you in Venice at your price range. As a student I have stayed near the train station in peak season in Venice without reservations on several ocassions. I no longer travel like this so I cannot give you specific suggestions but you might want to try some guide books like Lonely Planet or Rough Guide that tend to contain such information.

Have you tried www.laterooms.com ?
I haven't used it myself, but have seen it recommended on this forum. I believe the prices are discounted too. Good luck! |
Try Hotel Bernardi near the Rialto Bridge. We got a double room with ensuite bath for 95E last year.

We're staying here early May:http://www.ciliota.it/chisiamo_ing.htm
TripAdvisor comments are very good. Tell them Jean sent you. Good luck! |
If you're looking for May 13, like I was, it is really booked up already for some reason. Maybe every weekend in May is booked by now, but try these three (they are reasonably priced, well-located; and have good reviews):
Hotel Riva http://www.hotelriva.it/ Casa Rezzonico http://www.invenicetoday.com/carezzonico/location.htm Locanda Ca' Le Vele http://www.locandalevele.com/EN/bookings.htm |
Hi,
I stayed in the Hotel Tritone at Mestre for 2 nights last year. It is opposite the train station and next to a bus stop. We found it very easy to get into Venice and had good quality rooms for 110E - I think they are 120E this year. The rate included a decent breakfast and there was a good restaurant nearby. Carolena |
