Venice Hotel - help!

Trying to pick an affordable hotel (max 150 euro) in Venice - are going to spend one night there on our honeymoon in May - but which one??? Locanda Novo, Hotel Iris, Locanda Leon Bianco, Hotel Galleria... there just seem to be so many options :-) Please help with suggestions.

Thanks,
Lena

Hi
if you do a search right here on the Leon Bianco and the Galleria you should find many past messages, almost all positive I believe. Don't recall seeing the other two, but they may be in the archives as well.
Don't wait too long to book, popular small places fill up many months in advance.

Hi Lena,

Just to make things more difficult for you, I found the Hotel Marconi, right near the Rialto Bridge on the Grand Canal to be very nice.

It is in your price range.

Just came back from a stay at Hotel Galleria (actually, in their dependence). Very nice, great location (right at the Accademia Bridge). Only 104 Euro/night. One hint...if you stay in their dependence, it is not actually at 531 Calle de Mende (although that address does exist and is the right builiding). The entrance is around the corner (there is an HG on the door). We were not the only ones stumped by this!!) I'd stay there again.

A friend stayed at Locanda Nova last year and loved it (they had a quad).

Anne

You can "compare shop" on www.venere.com. I find them to be the most consistent in lower prices compared to the other search engines. And I've never had a problem with booking and paying for the reservation once I got to Italy. If you make a tentative reservation through them (no obligation), you will hear back from the hotel within 24 hours and that's a great advantage. Good luck.
La Calchina..on the Guidecca canal. Doubles run $124-150 euro I think. This includes a breakfast which is decent especially if only for one or two days (we were there for 6 so it got old). It's in a great location, good neighborhood and you can walk/stroll many fine places within a short distance.
