Venice- Hotel Flora or Giogione?
 

Hi. My fiance and I are going to Italy on our honeymoon and are spending our 1st 3 nights (1 1/2 full days) in Venice. We can't afford the really expensive hotels and are saving our splurges (relative) for Positano and Capri. Right now we're considering the Giorgione and the Flora for Venice. Specifically, at the Flora we were guaranteed a large room with garden view for the 1st 2 nights, and then a small room with garden view for the 3rd night for 230 euros/night, while we can have a "superior" double room for 290 euros at the Giorgione. I know the locations are very different....just trying to decide. Thanks!

Is 290e at Giorgione for all 3 nites or per nite? Does a superior room have a water view? If it's for 3 nites I'd go for it.I would personally avoid having to change rooms for so short a stay. Have you checked on venere.com? Their rates are often much better than direct from the hotel.

I am a FLora fan although I haven't stayed at the other. The flora is a very charming, pleasant hotel.

I love the Flora, esp. its location, but wouldn't want to have to move rooms for just one more night either. A small room at the Flora can be quite small.<BR> I've heard only good things about the Giorgione.

Hi everyone. Thanks for your input so far. For the Giorgione (and the Flora, for that matter), the prices I listed are for 1 night only. We don't particularly want to change rooms after 2 nights either, we just thought that the Flora may be better located (plus it was less expensive). Any thoughts about the locations? Thanks again!

Jacquiro I think 290e is much too much for the Giorgione. I had looked into staying there &amp; got a quote from them directly &amp; a much lower quote from Venere.com Don't know if the rooms would have been equivalent. In the end I stayed elsewhere. You don't say what time of year you're going. If you have some time before the trip, you could ask the Flora (if that's where you want to stay) to &quot;wait list&quot; you for a large room for 3 nites. People do cancel. Have you told them it's your honeymoon? Sometimes it makes a difference. There are so many good hotels in Venice. Have you tried La Calcina in Dorsudoro? It looks charming &amp; is well located. I recall the Giorgione is in Canareggio but never actually saw it. The Marconi is on the Grand Canal right by the Rialto bridge &amp; has one or two rooms with balconies. My friend stayed there &amp; loved the balcony view. Final thought, for 290e I think you could stay at the Ca'Pisani which is a newish hotel with jacuzzis, a great location &amp; a wonderful restaurant. Keep us posted.

OK, I admit it, I'm a Flora basher. I just don't think it's worth the rate. We stayed in &quot;a small room with garden view&quot; a couple of years ago at the equivalent of 220 euros a night, and it was the worst room we've experienced anywhere in the world.

Hi.<BR><BR>I'm NOT a Flora basher. We loved it nine years ago but that's too long for my recommendation to be valid now. But you had asked about location; I'm confident the Flora hasn't moved. The location is perfect: the alley-type walkway from the hotel opens onto a delightful small street with some useful shops (including a barber). The hotel is about a hundred yards from San Marco and 50 yards from a canal where you can hire a gondola.<BR><BR>You will NOT be disappointed with the location.<BR><BR>You're welcome.
