Venice - Hotel Ca' dei Conti

Was about to book this hotel as it looks very attractive and the price is good via the Venere site. However, I can't seem to find any reviews.....can anyone help?!! Thanks, Liz

most amazing hotel in Venice. We just left there and payed $200 euro. A Steal. We stay in a lot of hotels but this is top on our list. Our only complaint was two out of the three front door guys had bigger egos than I like. But the nice one was so cool that it made it worth it. The art work, modern yet comfy rooms, internet, restaurant, breakfast, location, and service (if you give the attitude right back) was amazing. We stayed in a couple other hotels in Venice and were bummed. Dont stay any where else. Trust me.

This hotel looks nice. Anybody know their rooms, twin (100 euro) and twin Superior (150 euro)? How are they? 200 euro is for their suites. And these are their special rates which seem to be available in Jan. and Feb.

Stephen, how was their breakfast ? Can you possibly compare it with at other hotels in Venice? Thanks in advance for your reply. I might consider to stay there to for my next trip to Venice.

stephen Jan 14th, 2003 10:12 AM

Its the low season so its $200 for standard room king size(double). Breakfast was a buffet with eggs and sausage. Best in all our stay in Italy.
Some of the other hotels we stayed in in Venice were a little musty, not this one. It had a super duper jacuzzi tub, trick lighting.. james bond style room. The art work was amazing. Go to all the different floors and trip out on what they have as art. More than paintings. We liked it so much we were wondering if we should tell anyone about it since it wasnt in any books.

SORRY WRONG HOTEL. I JUSTLOOKED AT THE ONE YOU SAID ONLINE AND ITS DIFFERENT. I'LL FIND THE NAME OF THE ONE WE STAYED IN.

stephen Jan 14th, 2003 10:40 AM

THE NAME IS THE CA' PISANI DORSODURO 979/A 30123 VENEZIA TELEPHONE IS 041 2771478 www.capisanihotel.it I KNOW ANYONE WHO STAYED HERE WILL BE MAD I TOLD ANYONE ABOUT ITS SO AMAZING

Surlok Jan 14th, 2003 10:41 AM

Maybe the Ca' Pisani, in Dorsoduro?

kite Jan 14th, 2003 10:48 AM

Oh, Ca'Pisani,@I know it, the one in Dosoduro. It sure looked nice when I visited just the reception area and I'm sure lots of people like it. But maybe not for those who want old traditional Venetian style.

stephen Jan 14th, 2003 11:01 AM

Yeah, in Dorsoduro. Its not venitian style, your right, but oh what a cool modern version of it. And its not musty. I've found ventian style means musty.

Surlok Jan 14th, 2003 11:05 AM

Sure, Kite. The Ca'Pisani has modern, sleek design. Also, the hotes are located in different districts. The Ca'Pisani is in Dorsoduro, whereas the Ca'dei Conti is located in Castelo, and it's quite stuffy, as opposed to the Ca'Pisani. I agree that a first timer should stay in a more traditionally Venetian hotel, as for decor style, however...
Anyway, this is useless as information as Liz got good rates only for the Ca'dei Conti, and so far no Fodororites, it seems, have stayed there.

DBB Jan 14th, 2003 11:07 AM

Don't worry, Stephen, the Ca' Pisani is in lots of newer guidebooks, the Conde Nast Traveler Hot List, etc. It's not a secret.

stephen Jan 14th, 2003 11:09 AM

I disagree about staying in a traditional Venitian hotel. This place is the bomb. More comfortable and not musty/stuffy.

stephen Jan 14th, 2003 11:13 AM

DBB- not many have it in there books.

liz Jan 15th, 2003 12:43 AM

Thanks you guys but what about the hotel I actually asked about?????!!!!! Ca' dei Conti! Liz

stephen Jan 15th, 2003 07:00 AM

looks dirty, dated and musty online

kite Jan 15th, 2003 07:31 AM

Stephen, maybe for you "traditional Venitian" simply means "dirty, dated and musty" while many other people see it as "attractive" as Liz (& I) does. From the photos on the net, I find it ok too. And as Liz said (and as I did on my first post), their rate is good. So I only wish I could have some first hand info positive or negative.

stephen Jan 15th, 2003 11:15 AM

dont stay there

dont Jan 15th, 2003 02:05 PM

Hi Liz I'm sorry you are not getting much information about Hotel Ca' dei Conti. I can't give you any either but at least I can tell you : don't bother with the posts by this STEPHEN ([email protected]) person. You can see how he goes on with his blah-blah on the thread he started, "RESTAURANTS- SORRY WERE FULL-MORE LIKE HAD ENOUGH". Hardly a trustworthy person. Can't belive he is 31. I really thought it's a kid writing. Or maybe he is on a drug.

Marges, I top this for you.

liz Jan 16th, 2003 09:08 AM

Dear Kite & Dont! Thank you for your helpful words! I've booked it now so keep your fingers crossed for me!! Regards, Liz
