Venice Hotel and Rest. Recc. Needed-First Timer :)

Hello all,
This is my first post and new to Fodors.com. I am starting to plan our 2 wkd trip to Italy (late june beg of july) and thought I would start with Venice. I am sure I will be posting many questions but I need to do this research in "chunks" otherwise too much!

I would like a recc. for a hotel that is on the canal & walking distance to sights/rest.

So, I have done some research and these 3 hotels stand out so far....
Al Ponte Antico
Locanda Orseolo
Ca'Angeli

Do you like any of these hotels? Which one of these three is the best? Or would you suggest another one?

Also we will be there for 2 nts and would like (2) dinner places and must try lunch places for Venetian Food....maybe your fav gelateria too :) Thank you so much!!!
Stephanie

You have them in the right order--all are quite nice.

It's been 7 years since I was in Venice, but I would definitely research the current reviews of the following if I were planning a return trip:
Palazio Priuli - we had an immense 2 room suite for a family of 4 in this well located, beautiful hotel.
Osteria di Santa Marina - we ate outdoors just off the campo di Santa Marina as the sun was setting. This restaurant gets written up occasionally so it may now be a tourists only spot - but our meal was outstanding.

I misspelled the hotel name in my previous comment. It is Palazzo Priuli: www.hotelpriuli.com
