Venice Hotel
 

I am also considering the Hotel Wildner in Venice , I would like more comments if anyone has stayed there. Also considering the Violino D'Oro.
We will be there in September, looking for a moderate priced hotel that is charming and in a good position.Thank you for any advice

I cannot vouch for either choice. But I have stayed at a fabulous B&B in Venice that I highly recommend. It looks much more affordable, too.

Corte 1321 is in a fabulous location- San Polo district. Five minutes to the vaporetto, ten minutes to the Rialto bridge. The accommodations are quite luxurious for the price, owner is American. LOVED this place... http://www.corte1321.com/en/index.htm

You do not say when you are headed to Venice, but the Wildner looks like it would be noisy, imho. The Corte is on a small canal and was very quiet, it has a beautiful courtard that was used for breakfasts.

Agree with sarge56, Corte 1321 is a better choice. Breakfast in the courtyard is very pleasant and it is run by nice people. I stayed in the Wildner many years ago and left early. No doubt it is better run now, but I would hate to emerge from my hotel entrance every day into the sea of people surging up the Rive di Schiavoni.

Agree with them. The Wildner Hotel has a wonderful location that is the only one thing that justifies the price.
The other things, I mean, room, service, assistance, "no lift", are not so bad, but not so good.

I like the Hotel Giorgione in Venice for quality, location and overall value.

My wife and I stayed at Pensione Wildner in 1993, in room #45, which afforded us a wonderful view of the water. You're right in the midst of everything immediately, including the ongoing flood of other tourists. I found the place more than acceptable, but you might want to look elsewhere for something a little more off the very, very beaten track. You might want to take a look at Hotel Flora, centrally located but tucked away at the same time. (La Caravella, a wonderful restaurant, is a few steps away, and the hotel is convenient to a major vaporetto stop.) I stayed at Hotel Flora last May for 10 days and was very pleased. (One of the surprises on tripadvisor is that if you go to the Venice restaurant section, you'll find Pensione Wildner as currently rated among the top 35 or 40 restaurants in the city; my wife and I only had breakfast there, and, of course, it was 18 years ago.)
