Venice Hotel-3stars

Has anyone stayed one of these hotels: Hotel Flora, Kette, Do Pozzi, or Ala ?
All of these hotels are located near St.Mark's square. Thank you for your advise!

Hi Amy,
I enjoyed my stay at the Ala last year (Feb). Next trip I plan on staying at the Kette. The owner of a wine store I frequent (too much:) swears by the Flora. Have you done a "Text Search" at the top of this page? There are a few posts on these hotels (including mine on the Ala). All these hotels are located west of St. Marks's Sq. with Hotel Ala the farthest at 500m. Regards, Walter

Amy,
We've stayed at Do Pozzi. It's an old hotel beginning to show its age. Rooms were good-sized though those that are street side pick up a lot of street noises. We were "serenaded" about 2AM by some local carousers. Breakfasts are simple, croissants and coffee, for example. It's convenient to St Marks Piazza and a vaporetto stop. Of six hotels we stayed in on a recent trip to Bavaria, Austria, northern Italy and Switzerland, it probably ranked fourth or fifth from the top in our estimation.

I have stayed at the Kette on several occasions and will stay there again when I go back to Venice. It has no garden or view; other than that, I think it is very good--I have stayed also at the Albergo San Marco (awful) and the Savoia y Jolanda (not great.) I looked at the rooms at the Flora because I take small groups to Europe. I liked the garden and the reception area, but the rooms I saw were very small, much smaller than those at the Kette. All rooms at the Kette are not alike. Those with a seating area are quite nice; those on the top floor are not so great.

Amy,

Have stayed at Flora and sent a number of friends there. It is a charmer, but be sure to request a large room. The rooms with garden view are lovely. There is an intimate little bar for two off the lobby and a very comfortable breakfast room. If he is still there, Sergio is an outstanding concierge and a good source of information and map-drawing. This is a quiet hotel, but within a short walk of everything. If you can't get a reservation here, you might consider Bel Sito (ask for the room with roof deck or one overlooking the piazza with balcony) or Accademia. Both are old-style Venice with friendly, helpful staff. Buon Viaggio!

I will second the Accademia. I was there two weeks ago, and was very pleased. The location is very good, just over the Accademia bridge and quiet location within easy walking distance of everything. The staff was very helpful, especially Luciano. We had a wonderful room with lovely windows opening out onto the rear garden. Great place!

I will second the Flora. Stayed there last October. Perfect location 5 minute walk from San Marco vaporetto stop.
My room was quite small, have not seen the larger ones for comparison. However, very clean, charming. Bathroom small but modernized, very clean. Continental breakfast served in the dining room or in the pretty courtyard in nice weather. There is a small elevator. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
