Venice Hotel
Has anyone heard or stayed at this hotel? It's the Hotel Locanda Barbarigo. We're thinking of staying here in the Smeraldina room on our honeymoon. What are your thoughts?
Thanks, Brandi |
Hi Brandi,
Do a text search on the Barbarigo. It has gotten both good and bad reviews. |
Yes, I do know it and like it. It is a great location and run by a very nice young couple. It really is a B&B but very nice. Make sure you have good directions for the last 50 meters.

Hi Brandi,
We stayed there for a week in January. My sister in law and her fiance stayed in Smeraldina and loved it. They had never been to Europe before and Locanda Barbarigo helped to make our trip unforgettable, for both them and us. |
Thanks--I've been doing some research on here as well--it seems really nice and am considering booking. I'm a touch worried about mosquetos and having to lean over your window to see the canal. Is that true?

I have read that one of the recommended rooms is the Smeraldina, so that would be a good choice.
Not all rooms have canal views, some face a courtyard. I'm assuming that you know there is no elevator. |
Hi Brandi,
The Smeraldina room looks directly up a canal (corner window) which leads to the Grand Canal a few yards away, however the view is away from the Grand Canal, not towards it. The view is still wonderful. The Locanda is housed in a small part of a very large palazzo which sits on the corner of the Grand Canal and a side canal and the space was originally a very large apartment in the palazzo. The palazzo is broken up into many "condo" units, which is very typical in Venice and the Locanda is one of those units. There is no elevator, but the rooms are only one flight up and it is a very easy and broad stair to climb. Most places in Europe do not have screens (cultural I guess, as it does seem like such an easy fix). Bring some Off! Have fun wherever you end up. |
