Venice Hotel
Anyone have a reasonably priced favorite hotel in Venice? I stayed in the Villa Mabapa on the Lido and it was terrible - rude people and yucky rooms. Like something better when I go agfain this fall!

There are lots of favorites Sama. If you do a text search here for Venice And hotels you'll get tons of strings. If you post your idea of "reasonable" you'll get more specifics. The Hotel Galleria is right by the Accademia Bridge & has rooms for 110e/night. Complaints are small (or tiny) rooms & some rooms are very noisy. Others feel it's great value for money being so well located. There is at least one room that's larger that goes for 145e. La Calcina gets good reviews but I think may run closer to 200e/night. Check it out. Prices fluctuate depending upon when in the fall you're going. The Pensione Accademia de Maravege is a Fodors favorite. I have heard some singles can be as low as 80e/night depending upon season.

Yes Sama, do a search above. I have been to Venice twice. Stay at Albergo Guerrato in San Polo and Hotel Campiello in Castello(close to San Marco). Liked both of them and would stay there again.

Sama--I'm glad to see that someone else is recommending Hotel Campiello. I think it's a good small hotel, well located just around the corner from the Grand Canal, and a reasonable price. I would like to add my recommendation. Their web site is www.hcampiello.com. Good luck.

hcampiello.com > hcampiello.it seems correct.
Pensione La Calcina. www.lacalcina.com

Is lovely!! Prices vary significantly depending: on season, single w/ or w/o private bath, single or double with view or without, suites, etc. Breakfast included. The website spells it all out clearly.
