Venice - good 3 star hotel/B+B within walking distance to Piazzale Roma

We'll be spending one night post cruise and I would love any recommendations from folks who have been in a similar situation. We have a very early flight out the next morning so need to be within walking distance of P.Roma to catch the ATVO bus. So far I am considering Hotel Olimpia, Locanda Alloggi Marinella, Casanova ai Tolentini or Ca San Rocco. Looking to spend our last night in something with charm and comfort up to 160e. Any other suggestions or comments would be appreciated. Many thanks for your help.

We are staying one night post cruise as well. Our problem was finding a hotel that would accept a one night reservation as we are a group of 8. Our flight is around noon so location wasn't an issue for us.

I can't comment on any of your choices but best of luck finding a charming hotel and enjoy your cruise!

I haven't been there yet but I will be spending a night here:

http://www.hotelarlecchino.com/

I looked at the map and it is right next to Piazzale Roma. If you can wait until Mid-March then please top this thread (as a reminder to me) and I will give you a review.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Principe on Lista d'Spagna which is convenient to Piazzale Roma & a few steps from the train station. Great location. Our room was small but immaculate and the breakfast was quite substantial. The service was also lovely.

Hello starfish, here is my review.

The Arlecchino was a great value. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful with all of my questions. I had a single room which was very small but more than adequate for my needs. My room looked out to a small canal. I recommend it to anyone who needs something near Piazzale Roma.

Sofitel is right there-it may have garnered another star since we were there though.

Did you take a bus from the airport to the hotel? How far was it to walk after you got off the bus at Piazzale Roma?

What about Ca' della Corte -- certainly walkable to Piazzale Roma (indeed, very close to the Sofitel). They have some very nice rooms and a handsome suite (with grand piano!) A garden-like setting and absolute quiet.

"Ca' della Corte is a XVI century Venetian Palace with its own courtyard. It has been completely renovated in a style which emphasizes its beauty, elegance and refinement.
It has an excellent location, just 3 minutes from Piazzale Roma..."

www.cadellacorte.com

I have not stayed there but when we rented one of their apartments a few streets away, the lovely young ladies of the hotel gave us a tour through all of their (unoccupied) rooms.

I will always be grateful to them as well for gladly and discreetly storing my spouse's cancer medicine in their freezer, since our apartment fridge was not terribly cold.

Hello cd, I did take the bus. When the bus pulled into the Piazzale Roma I could already see the yellow facade of the hotel with the name on the side. It was a very short walk from the bus, probably not more than 40 feet.

Thanks P_M, when lugging all your luggage it's important to be close to your hotel.

Thanks everyone for your recommendations.

One more thing cd, there are a few steps along the way as you will cross a bridge, but it's a low bridge and not difficult at all.

I stayed at Hotel Principe last April and can also recommend it. It is in an excellent location near Piazzale Roma.

P_M, thanks for getting back with the info and happy you enjoyed your stay. Since you have been we had friends who stayed at Hotel Olimpia and loved it. And the fact that it has a big garden sounded appealing so we have booked it at a good rate prepaid. I'll report back once we've been - not until September though. Thanks to everyone also for the other suggestions.

Enjoy reading all the info above. My party of 4 adults are heading to Rome for a sight seeing adventure and are having trouble deciding on the best accommodations for the location, price and safety. LaBella Giuliana B&B;IL TRASTEVERINO B&B; and VIA RATTAZZI, ROME have been recommended by a Italian Lodging agent. We arrive mid May on a Monday and leave the following Friday morning. Affordability is important also, but getting anxious now. Any personal experience recommendations would be greatly appreciated too!

Rinfam, this is a htread about Venice. In order to get answers to your Rome question, perhaps you should creat a new thread.

starfish1, I've heard the Olimpia is good too and it's in the same area as Arlecchino. I hope you will enjoy your trip.
