Venice - get together - late Nov or early Dec.

Thought I would give this another shot.

I’ll be at a loose end in Venice - I already hear howls of “How could ANYONE be at a loose end in Venice” - from Saturday 27th November to Thursday 2nd December. I’m travelling with my wife and mother in law, and they are running away to Assisi and Florence for a few days. I’ll be marooned in Venice.

Would anyone fancy meeting up for a spritz. Meet by the rubbish bin in the middle of Campo San Barnaba, by the statue of Mr Cagalibri in Campo San Stefano, or at the base of the middle flagpole in front of San Marco (unless it’s aqua alta’d).

OK, count me in! No, wait, I think I'm doing something else around that time. Let me check my diary. :)

I'm seriously considering joining you. Still have to chose my dates and book my flight.

Peter I'll just miss you.....I'll be in Venice from the 6th November til the morning of the 22nd November.
Would have been nice to meet up!!

If anyone else is around earlier.....be great getting together.

I'm thinking about taking advantage of the nice deals from Lufthansa and coming to Venice for a week right after Thanksgiving. This will be my very first solo trip - is Venice pretty solo-traveler friendly, do you think? I'd love to throw a GTG in the mix if anyone's available.

Peter_S_Aus Oct 24th, 2010 05:43 PM

Ladyg0, I think that Venice would work well for a solo traveller. The whole city is safe to walk around, street crime is pretty well unknown. The lack of vehicle travel creates a much more people-centric atmosphere, and there is so much too see beside the main “big ticket” sights. Lots of small bars and cafes.

So maybe you would be there in late November – a get-together could work for the dates that I've listed above.

Cheers

Peter

Venice is easy for a solo traveler since there is so much to walk around and see. I have been there solo as well as with friends and like it any way I can get it. Have always felt safe and at ease, even when totally lost as a result of my wanderings. Enjoy!

Thanks - I hope it works out that I am able to go!

Update. Looks like it will be latter part of February, not late November for me in Venice - darn!

Looks like it will be Venice in the late winter/early spring for me. Have a great visit, Peter.
