Are you saying the Metropole is the same price as the Ala--hard to believe.
If so, grab it.

Good morning, mjs
Have used te Ala two or three times in
oast years and been very satisified..
The Ala is located about two to three
full blocks west of the Pza. S. Marco on a fairly large square. close to the
vaporetto stop S. Giglio and has a pretty fair ristorante next door....
The Metropole, which we have not used is in a better location and located about one full block east of the Pza.
S., Marco on the Riva Sch.... Front rooms face the S. Marco Basin and St.
Georgio..Richard of LaGrange Park, Il..

Yes, all the above hotels have offered me room(s) for about the same price. The Metropole has a 30sq meter family room, the Giorgione a junior suite and the rest are two connecting doubles. I guess two bathrooms are a slight plus when three out of four of us is female but in the past this has not been much of a problem. Have usually stayed in the Dorsoduro section so am considering staying this time in another section of Venice. The Metropole seems the best bet followed by the Giorgione from my research so far.

Having stayed in the Metropole for a number of visits, I would have to recommend it if it falls into any of the price categories of the other hotels for similar accommodations. I know the Ala, and it's nice, but it's not the Metropole. The Giorgione is also nice, but not like the Metropole.

We stayed at the Giorgione. The location is nothing compared to the other two, but we thoroughly enjoyed it. The breakfasts were the best in Italy. Excellent pizza around the corner.
