Venice car rental - from VCE airport or Piazzale Roma?
 

We will be picking the car up in Venice and delivering it 3 days later to FCO airport. The one-way rental prices are very close, for pickup at VCE or at Piazz. Roma. I am interested in the time/hassle factor involved in getting from our hotel to the rental office, and driving towards Bologna. We hope to make the 2:30 tour at the Ducati factory.

Our hotel in Venice is the Ca' Dogaressa in the Cannaregio area. The Alilaguna boat to the airport seems to take 45 mins, the Piazz. Roma is a 10 min. vaporetto ride.

On the Google map, it doesn't look too complicated to drive off the island from Piazz. Roma, or am I missing something?

Piazzale Roma is easy. Just be sure that your selection at Venice of the 3 locations will match the same vendor at FCO. I would call AE or Kemwel directly--1-800-223-5555
All of the 3 vendors at Pia. Roma are next to each other in the same garage---just a slight difference in address.

Definitely the Piazzale Roma location. No need to go all the way to the airport.

And, make sure they have ALL of the damage to the car noted on the rental agreement and in their computer system! I got a car from Europcar at P. Roma that looked like a RentaWreck car... and they hadn't noted the damage. I went back into the office to have them correct it... they thought I was a total pain in the a@#. But, I wasn't going to drive away without it being recorded.
