Venice - can I order a free map?

Before going to Copenhagen I got a free map from a website. It was a very good map with all bus lines in color.

Is it possible to do the same for Venice? If not with vaporetto lines, at least a map of the city. I don't want to buy. Maybe somebody has a link, or website name?

Try this:http://www.venezia.net/venice-guide/mappa.php?lang=ENG

This one is free. It's not too helpful for individual buildings:

thanks for the link jubilada (what a great name, btw, are you really retired? my face is green ...)

and as soon as you sign up, they do send a few maps. Thanks!

colduphere, where to click? I couldn't figure it out :-(

Where did you find a free map for Copenhagen? Please share.

From a quick look at the link jubilada provides, the ACTV (public transportation/vaporetto) part is out of date by several years. The always up-to-date official (and free as well) version can be found at http://www.hellovenezia.com/jspvenez...f/muoversi.pdf ("Hellovenezia" is the marketing branch of the ACTV Venice Public Transportation company).

RainyDay, on this screen there is a link to their e-mail to request a map

http://www.visitcopenhagen.com/conte..._of_copenhagen

"Wonderful Copenhagen will also be pleased to send you a map of Copenhagen, if you kindly forward your postal address to [email protected]"

And their map is good, but double-check the bus lines for changes, for example we found bus 26 to be on the other side of Radhuspladsen.

Everybody, thank you for the links, I'm going to try each one!

OK, tried all links... of course thank you all for taking your time, but this was not what I am looking for. I was looking for a larger map, not a map to print myself, but a map of Venice they would mail to my home address.

I'll keep looking, still plenty of time, and if I find one, I'll come back to post a link.

Hmmm... in my search came upon a website that says Venice is the only city that does not have free maps even in the visitor center, only hotels have them. Strange.

screen_name: no, retirement is a probably never to be attained fantasy! When I took an intensive spanish class it was my favorite new word LOL.

Dayenu: sorry, I misunderstood.

njSusan, THANK YOU!! It's an excellent map with vaporetto stops on it - we plan on getting a pass and (over)using them :)
