Venice ...bus or taxi
We are traveling to our hotel from Marco Polo Airport which is located just in Piazzia Roma area(Ca Doge Hotel on Santa Coche) Is the bus easy to use in spite of our luggage or do you take the taxi?
The difference is about $60...is it worth the taxi or would the bus work
out as well?
Just thought of another question about the Venice Card. Has anyone out there used it and does have real value?

Hi Wildman - The airport shuttle bus (ATVO) is very easy to use, with departures every 30 mins. Luggage goes in the compartment underneath.

I felt perfectly fine with putting my luggage underneath. I tried to hang around outside the bus until it was time to close the compartment and then we all collected our luggage when we arrived Piazzale Roma.

Thanks Statia, the thought of having my luggage stolen was tilting me toward a cab for 5o EURO. You are right about standing around until they close the compartment. Did you buy your ticket from the driver or inside the terminal?

We had been told we could buy our ticket from the driver, but then the driver pointed us to a ticket machine located right at the stop. That's where all the locals were buying theirs, as well, and they were very helpful to us in using the machine. If you can purchase at a window with a teller that might be easier, though.
We only use the water taxi when necessary (very early departures) and the bus was very easy from the airport to Piazzale Roma on a weekday afternoon, so I would stick with that plan, Wildman.
Have a great trip.

One last point, Wildman. When we were standing outside the airport awaiting the bus there were a few areas with different routes listed on the signs. Make sure you are at the correct stop for Piazzale Roma. If you aren't certain, you can always ask. People are very helpful.
Regarding the Venice Card....unless you are really going to be seeing all of the sights it covers, I don't think it's worth it.
