Venice Apartment Woa's -opinion please
 

Last night I received word that the canal in front of our booked this may in Venice will be drained and dredged. The owner is uncertain as to when the project will end, and as our apartment is above the canal, we may want to reconsider.

I need a 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment (1 double with 2 singles) in the Dorsoduro area (we would have been by Santa Maria Salute). Our budget is 1200 euros. Does anyone have any suggestions for a nice apartment in this district?

Apartments in that configuration are not common, in my experience.

Is this apartment unusable because of the dredging, or is it just a scenic thing? Perhaps an adjustment of the rate would be appropriate.

We spend so little time in our apartments that all I ask for is cleanliness and a washer/dryer. Antique furniture, to me, just means uncomfortable.

The Palazzo is right on the calle that is being drained and dreged. The specific apartment being rented is right on the calle. I have no concern relative to view, it is more of the construction blockage and, most importantly noise. Bringin an elderly parent, whom may need to nap in the afternoon, this may not be practical.

Additionally, we've already experienced construction in Rome at the Cesari in the AM and very late PM hours.

Our departure time from Venice is such thaqt we'll need a water taxi to the airport and we'll not be able to obtain one from the Palazzo.

Complaints about smell in Venice are rare, but if there are any, they seem to relate to canals that are being drained and dredged.

Thank you for your suggestions. I've gone the "search" mechanism route, as well as slowtrav.com.

I've located 2 apartments in the San Marco area; 1 via Sleepinitaly.com (San Maurizio)and 1 via venice-rentals.com (San Stefano II). I've also located 1 in the Arsenal through venice-rentals.comn (Campo Arsenale II).

I've inquired about availability this am, and will further inquire about availability & accessibility of water taxi on morning of departure. We've an extremely early flight out of Venice. Which ever has the ability to get the water taxi to the door...wins.

If anyone has experience with these firms, feedback would be appreciated.
