We took a European trip this summer and went to both Venice and Bellagio (Lake Como). In Venice our hotel room came out to be around $125 a night for a double room -- it was a VERY small room though. It was the Hotel Do Pozzi. The hotel was OK, but you might be able to do better -- Venice is expensive and this hotel was near Saint Mark's Square (the closer you get to the square, the more expensive). As for Lake Como, the beautiful town we stayed in was Bellagio and we stayed at the Hotel Belvedere. I would highly recommend this hotel -- it was a great room with a huge patio/balcony outside our room overlooking the lake. I think it ran about $120 a night for a double. Anyway, we created a personal website travelogue of our trip with picutres if you're interested. It's at http://www.lunadesigns.com/travels/

Hotel Belvedere!

I've wondered for years of the name of that great hotel I stayed at in Bellagio. Nicole, the pictures on your web site confirmed it. Anyone visiting lake Como should check out Nicole's great web site of her trip.

We have reservation at Hotel DO Pozzi in May and the cost is 250000L. I am certainly open to suggestions of other nice hotels in Venice. I phoned 4 or 5 other places and they were booked? Any suggestions? THanks-Sharon

I just went to Venice in October. I stayed at a hotel recommended by the travel writer, Rick Steves, named Hotel de Guerrato very close to the Rialto bridge. (All his tour groups stay there)

It is in an 800 year old building with eclectic furnishings throughout. I had a nice clean decent-sized room with the bathroom across the way for 95,000.00 a night (single price). Roberto & his brother spoke good English.

( found it quiet although my friends who were facing the Rialo Market were awakened quite early by the noise.
