Venice airport to Verona - best way?

If arriving at the Venice airport at 10:30 AM midweek, what is the best way to go directly to Verona?

Take a cab to Venezia Santa Lucia, you should be able to catch the 11:51 IC, arriving in Verona at 13:18

Per www.trenitalia.it

Best wishes,

Rex

You don't say how long you'll be in Verona. We took the land bus to Piazza Roma from the Venice irport where we rented a car. Lake Garda is 45 minutes west of Verona and WELL worth a visit. We drove up the western coast of the lake - lots of incredible tunnels, quaint towns, breathtaking scenery and you can do it in a day!

Claire - I think Rex meant to say Venice MESTRE Station (- the mainland station), not Santa Lucia.

[There is no point in crossing the bridge to Venice proper if you're going straight to Verona].

There is a frequent Airport Bus service to MESTRE Station, fare € 2.50.
(You can get tickets at the ATVO kiosk in the airport).
The bus leaves from right outside the Terminal.

Alternatively a taxi to MESTRE Station will cost about € 28.00.

Hope this helps ...

According to Trenitalia, the IC at 11:51 doesn't refer to stopping at Mestre - - surprised me - - maybe I mis-read or misunderstood?

Rex - All trains from SL stop at Mestre.

[If you put Venezia Mestre in Trenitalia, you'll see that train leaves Mestre at 12.03]

Thanks, Steve - - I thought I initially DID type in Mestre (or Venice Mestre) and didn't get anything - - but then I switched to Italian, and failed to re-try it. Appreciate the tip; it seemed odd to me that a train would fail to stop in Mestre.

Many thanks, all of you who responded, and especially Rex & Steve. No time for a rental car. 3 nights in Verona during the opera festival and then 3 nights to chill out in Venice before returning home. Want to minimize the packing/unpacking, and the flight to Venice airport worked better (and is cheaper) than the one directly to Verona.

Actually, I'm getting the information for someone else ( a Europe first timer senior) whom I hope to talk into getting directly to this board for invaluable help!

So, the taxi/bus from Venice airport is to Mestre? OK. All the better. Saves the whole magic of Venice for the proper arrival!

Save your money and take the blue ATVO airporter bus from Venice Airport to Venice Mestre Train Station. No need to take a taxi. Then take any direct train to Verona.
