Venice Airport to Dorsoduro

I can't believe our trip is 4 weeks away!

We need help to get from Venice Airport to Dorsoduro, right by the Zattere.
What is the fastest way?
We arrive after 6pm after two days of traveling, so I believe we will be very tired to not to adventure too much and I know there are several ways to get there.

Thanks.

Bus to Piazzale Roma and take the vaporetto along the Guideca canal to the zattere stop---very direct.

We arrived at the airport in Venice after 5:30 PM and, due to exhaustion, chose a private water taxi. It was very expensive ( 110 Euros), but it was a memorable entrance to Venice. We also rationalized that we wanted to get settled into our hotel before dark so we would have less trouble finding our way to a restaurant for dinner. In retrospect, we needn't have worried and next time we would do as bobthenavigator suggested. However, we were grateful to get to the hotel quickly (less than 25 minutes), and the taxi ride is something my DH considers a highlight.
If the cost isn't uncomfortable for you, the private water taxi is great for exhausted first-time visitors to Venice.

Hi pookymimi - we took the Alilaguna from the airport to Zattere in late October. Took longer than I expected (about an hour) and was noisy and not the most scenic. Would take a private water taxi next time if I weren't so cheap, bus and vaporetto would be next choice.

Bob thanks a lot!
We will take the bus and check the vaporetto to Guideca.

I don't know how much it will be for the four of us, but may be cheaper than the 110eu for a private taxi.

The bus is about 6E and the vaporetto is 6.50E, but you will likely want a 3 days pass anyway. As the crow flys, the Zattere stop is not very far. The bus is right outside the front door, while the other options call for a :10 walk to the dock.

I wonder if buying a 5 day pass will be a better option.
Do the bus and vaporetto passes are combined for both?

We have to leave Saturday morning to Venezia Termini to catch the train for Napoli.

The airport bus is no longer included in a transit pass. The airport bus fare is an additional 5 euros. You can purchase a pass that has the airport bus fare (one way or round trip) already included in the pass.

To be clear: there are two bus lines that run between the airport and Piazzale Roma:
- ACTV Orange local bus (5 euro) that would be combined with the vaporetto ticket and make stops along the way
- ATVO Blue express bus (5 euro) that requires its own ticket and travels directly between the two points.

I'm not sure what a land taxi would cost from the airport to Piazzale Roma, but to put your group of 4 on the land bus you'll spend 20 euro--a land taxi may be worth investigating.

ellenem - this website sells combo - tickets that include the airport bus: http://www.veniceconnected.com/ecomm...g=2&g=20120525

Oops - meant pookymimi, not ellenem!

Thanks everybody.
I will check the websites provided.

We are going to be so jet lagged after two days of traveling that I'm terrified on how to get to Zattere at night with kids and luggage in tow, the less thinking for me then the better :)

ellenem May 4th, 2012 01:48 PM

jamikins,

Yes, Venice Connected sells a combo ticket, both with and without a separate fare added on for the bus. If you want to take the local ACTV orangr bus, you should buy the pass with the extra fare.

pookymimi,
A night arrival . . . four people . . . some kids . . . this may be the moment to splurge for the water taxi or take the Alilaguna simply because it will be simpler.

Allilaguna was so easy, a short walk from terminal to dock.
