Venice Airport to cruise ship terminal

I posted this on the cruise board but got very little response.

We will be flying into Venice mid morning to pick up a Celebrity cruise on 25th May (the ship doesn't depart until the next day) and trying to work out the easiest and most convenient way of getting from Marco Polo airport to cruise terminal which I belive is Stazione Marittima without having to use Celebrity's transfer. We will have a large suitcase each.

We need some guidance here.
Thanks.

We've arrived in Venice many ways... car, train, water taxi, etc., etc. But to get to a cruise ship we took a land taxi from the airport. (A lot cheaper than the water.) The only inconvenience I recall is that the taxi queue was quite long. The ride , however, is not long.

Don't know what Celebrity's transfers cost (but if it is like most cruise lines it's ridiculous -:)... but you might want to compare it to the cost of taking a water taxi. Not cheap, but a wonderful way to enter Venice.

Hi Patricia - Taxi transfer should be about € 30-35 and takes about 20 mins

Alternatively the cheap option is bus to Piazzale Roma (- from where there is an occasional shuttle service or taxi).

A water taxi would take much longer - and cost euro 100+, I think.

Here's a useful link:

Hope this helps ...

Water taxi would not take much longer than a land taxi to the cruise ship terminals--in fact it could even be shorter depending on traffic and weather conditions. But it would be more expensive--and more fun.

You might want to fly into Venice a day early and spend the night there. You get to enjoy Venice from the inside, and catch up with your luggage if it's lost, a not totally uncommon experience.

Let me add this link about transportation to the cruise port: http://europeforvisitors.com/venice/...-marittima.htm

Thanks all for such great information, now I know all the options available to us.

Our ship is docked in Venice until 4pm after the day of boarding so as this will be our third visit to Venice we have decided not to have additional nights in a hotel in Venice.

Once again thanks,
Patricia
