Sorry not to respond to this (responding to your recent Florence post). I had a computer crash about that time and didn't do much follow up, to say nothing of new postings.
Thank you for your offer of assistance. We will have a car, and we will be visiting as many other of Palladio's buildings as we can on this trip. I remember Rybczynski's slides of the villas along the canal particularly, foggy and overexposed as they were.
Our host's wife is a brilliant cook. On our other trips with them, and we have been in groups of twelve or so on various occasions, she typically gives each of us a shopping assignment before we go off for the day. When we return, we all chop and slice and grind, and somehow by 9 or so, a wonderful meal emerges. I hope the facilities are conducive to this!
The hard thing, I think, may be staying focused since we love Verona and Venice so much. It will be tempting to sneak off for an alternative adventure.
