Vel d'Hiver - Paris
Can anyone give me the address where the Velodrome d'Hiver was located? This is the cycling stadium where the Jews were kept in 1942 after they were rounded up and before being deported to the death camps.

I know it was torn down after the war, but there is a memorial there that was dedicated by Mitterand. It is somewhere in the 15th.

The Velodrome was located on Boulevard de Grenelle in Paris.

There is a memorial in Drancy (outside Paris), the camp to which the Jews being held there were sent. See: http://fcit.coedu.usf.edu/holocaust/...LERYA/DRAN.HTM

Thanks, Lesli. There is a memorial in Paris, though. Miterrand dedicated it and laid a wreath in August of '94. I still haven't been able to find the address, but blvd. de Grenelle narrows it down.

Oh, thank you, Elaine! I was beginning to despair of ever finding it, as I've been on every travel, Paris, Judaic, Holocaust, etc. website I could think of.

Again, thanks so much!

Jan
