Vegetarian options in switzerland!

Hi Everyone,

Thanks very much for helping us finalize an itinerary for our week-long trip to Switzerland. We leave this week!
I forgot to ask this before - What are good options for vegetarians in Bern, Luzern, the Bernese Oberland and in the Lake Geneva area.. Any help is much appreciated.
We do eat eggs and dairy.
Thanks!

Tons of vegetarians in Switzerland. You'll find pasta, rösti (a hashbrown-like dish), salad plates, fish, alplermaggerone (a cheese /potato /noodle) dish.

Enjoy Switzerland

Cheese, cheese and more cheese! Some great pizza, too. The mixed salads are delicious....every veggie is separate in small piles with a drizzle of dressing.

Thank you.
Is Pasta widely availabe in the Bernese Oberland area as well?
Are there are any budget restaurant recommendations for any of these regions?

You can find good food at small inns and cafes everywhere. Pasta/spaetzele is widely available. However, food is still rather expensive in Switzerland. Wine, however, is quite reasonable!

For budget restaurants, check out Migros, Coop and Manor for cafeteria-style meals. The quality is usually very good and the price is right. Besides menus, they also have salad bars and dessert bars.

Migros and Coop supermarkets also tend to have large delis for take-out salads and veggie dishes - a veggie picnic awaits!

I usually go to Coop since Migros don't sell beer or wine - an essential to my picnic.

If you are in Lungern, try the Bahnhof Restaurant. It has been highly recommended by those staying in Untours apartments. Their Alpine Noodle dish (Alplermaggerone) is excellent. We were too full for dessert, but their coffee is excellent and the cream is served in small chocolate cups.

Yes. The Hotel Staubbach in Lauterbrunnen.

We stayed 5 nights in a room with a bathroom down the hall. It was about $65US/night in May 2005.
