Vegetarian

My husband and myself plan to go to Europe next summer (I know "Europe is kind of general...but we're still working out (i.e. debating!!)the details of where) but would love to do either a wine tasting tour or an "epicurious tour". I've seen these "food tours" advertised in various magazines. The only catch is that we're both vegetarians. Has anyone ever been on or even heard of a VEGETARIAN "food tour" through any part of Europe?

Would really appreciate any info.
Thanks.

Hi,

I did a quick search on Google (I like challenges), and came up with these websites - I don't vouch for any of them, but maybe they will help you:

http://www.vegetarian-vacations.com/eurobandb.html
http://www.sidesite.com/index.shtml (click on "vacations" then do a search for "vegetarian vacations").
http://www.ecobusinesslinks.com/ecotourism.htm (for links to some other interesting sites).

Good luck! Here's another

http://www.vegtour.com/

I would personally recomend Italy as a destination to maximise your enjoyment from a vegetarian "food tour".

France, Spain, Germany are not the best countires to easily find vegetarian opitons, and general understanding of the concept.

__________________________________ _____
My Travelogues and Photojournals
www.bangor.ac.uk/~fos007/travel.htm
____________________________________ ___

Are you vegan? Pescetarian?

Thanks guys!
I'm not vegan...I do have milk...though I will opt for soy if available.I'll eat baked goods that contain egg but won't eat egg itself...don't like the taste...and no...I don't eat fish.
We went to Italy and Germany last year and it actually isn't that hard to find good vegetarian food there at all..I was worried that I'd be hard pressed to find some, but all in all it worked out fine.
I would add that it is quite difficult to find good vegetarian food in Spain and France. (Although many Tapas choices are tasty and veggie.)

If you are prepared, and done a bit of research before travelling then you'll have already found veggie friendly restaurants.

If you have not, it can be quite difficult to find an establishment which doesn't just shrug their shoulders and look at you in a condescending manner!
