Vaucluse Lavander

We are visiting the Vaucluse this week, April 20, and there is an abundance of lavender fields spread throughout. There are many near Gordes, Banon to Lurs, Simiane la Rotand, and along D900 towards Folcalquier. Saignon has many also. Of course they are not blooming yet, but get ready for a beautiful season.

Lots of lavender on the Valensole plateau also.

Have they increased the plantings recently ? The fields are abundant. Many near opedde le vieux also.

opedde le vieux- For some reason, I love that little village. Maybe it was the yummy, prosciutto and butter on fresh baguette sandwich made by the village shop owner- who reminds me of my grandmother.

I would love to return to the area when the lavender is blooming! Enjoy your trip!

Lavender & sunflower fields have seemed to be replaced by wheat - or whatever crop France is currently subsidizing. There were huge sunflower fields around St Remy & west of Uzes 15 year ago - but they are seldom seen now. There does, however, seem to be more lavender fields than there were 5 years ago.

The Charente department was full of beautiful sunflower fields a few years ago. Many more than in the Vaucluse.
