Vatican tour only
 

I am looking for a good guide that will take us on a COMPLETE tour of the Vatican in one day. I want to tour St. Peter's, Sistene Chapel and the museum all in one day.
I would also hope he can get us in without waiting in line for a long time. Any recommendations?

Over a year ago, we went to St. Peter's and (already near the front of the line) met a Texan who had lived in Rome for several years who gave us a wonderful guided tour of the Basilica. There wasn't time for us to do all three, but I believe she would have taken us on all of them if we wanted. You'll have to check with her about avoiding the lines. There are a lot of threads about private tours of the vatican on this board - try putting "private tours of the vatican" into the search engine.

If you are prepared to get up very early, you can queue up outside the Vatican, and pick any of the guides who will be touting for business, but IMO a good guide book is just as good.

THe best order to do things is the reverse of the title of your post -
Vatican museum, Sistine chapel, [which you can't get to without going through the museum] then St. Peter's, which can be accessed directly from the door at the right hand corner at the back of the chapel marked "group exit", thus avoiding the queues to get into the Basilica.

Last Easter[ yes we were mad] we started queuing at 9am, and got into the museum at 10.15. After a refreshment stop half-way through the morning in the museum cafe - not bad at all - we entered St. Peter's at about 2pm, and were sitting having a well-earned beer at about 4pm.

so it can be done in a day, but don't count on being able to dfo anything else!
