We will be in Rome this Saturday Nov. 10th.

I tried to book directly with the Vatican but was not able to navigate it.

Do I still have time? Could somebody help me with this reservation, please.

What is it you are trying to book - the Vatican Museums?

I share this question, although not for this weekend, in a couple of weeks. I would like to see the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica ideally...what is the easiest way to do this?

IMO the easiest way to do it is on your own with a good guidebook, you don't need a tour.

To book directly with the Vatican, you must fax your request. The fax number is at the bottom of the page. There is only a 10:30 tour on Saturday. Since it's so close to the time you want, I would ask my hotel if they could make the request.

2mths_to_travel - The Sistine Chapel is IN the Vatican Museum. The winter hours are short, closing at 1:45 with last entrance at 12:30.

The Sistine Chapel is *in* the Vatican Museums.

You do not need to reserve to see St. Peter's Basilica; it is open every day from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. There is no admission charge.

Zerlina - Where did you find the e-mail link on the Vatican website? I've only seen a fax number for reservations unless it was for the Scavi tour.

kybourbon, A kind soul posted it in this forum some time ago. And I have seen posts here and elsewhere reporting success in using the email address.

I may have had bad luck, but I was pretty disappointed with the Vatican Tour led by a Vatican guide a few years back. We couldn't hear her above the ambient crowd noise (I wonder if by now they've gone electronic with headphones) and, worst of all, her English was next to incomprehensible.

I'd suggest you take a tour with an established agency like Enjoy Rome or Context Rome.

For a last minute tour, try ContextRome to see if they have an opening-they have a website-I used them for several tours in Rome & Florence & all were fantastic-Good luck

I faxed my request to the Vatican and they responded within hours. However, they scheduled me for the wrong date and time (switched the date for the time and vice versa). I immediately faxed back and on the second fax they told me there was no availability left on the day I wanted to go. So, we went on our Scavi Tour (Oct. 4)at 11AM and at 1PM just walked in to the Vatican Museum and used the audio tour. The line in the morning was beyond belief and I thought we wouldn't be able to ever get in but did. Liked the audio tour--had all the info and at our pace. The group tours (to me) were too large and spent too much time trying to gather everyone where they were told.

Last year we went to Rome and had a Vatican tour with ANGEL TOURS which was wonderful. Cost was 25 Euros each for about a 3 hour tour which turned into 5 hours. They are "usually" Irish students who all speak English very well. Best part was we didn't have to wait in the long lines.
