Vatican museum visiting hours??
 

Could someone please tell us the visiting hours to Vatican museum on a Saturday? I've seen 1:45pm and 3:45pm but not sure which one is correct. Please help. Thank you.

Rome seems to change visiting hours more than any ohter city so I'm never sure that I have "the" right times. Last I have, though, for "summer" hours (which I believe are in effect now) Monday to Saturday is 0845-1645, though last admission is at 1530. Closed Sundays except the last Sunday of the month which is free (and jam-packed. The visiting hours for the vatican museum doesn't really tell you anything. That's because they constantly make exceptions that are noted on a pole outside the entrance. This exceptions notice then lists the dates of the month(and there are many)that they will not open. So you never know unless you check this exceptions list.

The best suggestion is to just get in line about about 8-8:15 and be among the first to get in on Saturday morning!

You may want to do an internet search..surely the Vatican has a website.

We were there on Saturday March 17 and, as posted, it was open 8:45-1:45. We left Museum at 2:15 pm and there were still many people and nobody told us it was time to leave. Maybe they just stop selling tickets at 1:45. Anyway get there early and I mean early. We got there at 8:10 and there were about 80-100 people in front of us and many, many tour groups that used separate entrance. As someone on this board suggested we went first to the Sistine Chapel and brought binoculars with us. These were really great suggestions. Thank you all so much for your suggestions and information. Unfortunately our ship won't dock until 8am on Saturday, and the drive back to Rome is about 1 1/2 hour which would mean we won't get in line until 10am or so. How fast does the line usually go? I don't think my parents can wait in line for 1,2 hours in the heat like that in June.
