Vatican Hours In October

I know the Vatican Museums et al close early on Saturdays in the winter (about 1:45 p.m.) and stay open until 3:30 p.m. in the summer . Does anyone know what time they stay open til in October? I'm trying to plan our Rome itinerary and can't seem to find an answer for this. Thank you!

Now this is not firsthand, since I am planning my own first Rome trip, but at least one of my guidebooks stated that winter hours begin after October.

I found out from an English (and several other languages) speaking woman at Santa Susanna Church in Rome (it is a church for expat Americans in Rome) that the "winter hours" kicked in in mid September. I was curious cause we'll be in Italy in late October. BTW, the Santa Susanna website (check Google) is a wealth of info for Rome activities. I contacted their site because absolutely no guidebooks gave the cutoff for "summer" and "winter" hours.

I took a look at my sources again. Rick Steve's 2001 Italy book says the winter hours begin after October.
