Vatican guided tour

Which is most recommended tour of vatican. I have seen some from viator and walksof Italy...but unable to decide on what to book.

The tours from vatican website are booked on dates I am looking . Can I book a museum tickets on their websites and then find a guide once we arrive at the mueseum. Or should I book through one of thee companies.

Kindly advise. It's our first Europe travel.

Thanks
Minni

We used Marta marsili for our private colosseum/forum/palatine hill tour and she was amazing! I would highly recommend her. She does do the vatican tour as well. Her email is her full name all lower case at hotmail.

I have no idea what the most recommended tour is (you'll have to do the research on that) but I've used Context and Enjoy Rome. The Context tour was fabulous and the Enjoy Rome tour (quite a bit less expensive) was very good.

Viator is a consolidator so you don't know what tour group will be leading you. I booked a Viator walking tour in Barcelona and it was lead by the Tourist Office.

There are probably a dozen companies that do Vatican tours.

We used Walks of Italy in March. The guide we had was great. I would use them again.

We used Walks of Italy for our Vatican tour last week. Highly recommended, but for private guide I stand by Marta.

I originally booked with viator due to date availability. When I got the confirm which identified the tour company, that company had poor reviews. I was able to cancel with no problem. I ultimately booked with Dark Rome. Price was lower than Viator and our tour guide was excellent!

What dates are you going? I went to the Vatican website and it showed booked for my dates. A week later I tried and it was available. It may not show as available if it is too far in advance.
