Vatican Dress Code
Is there a shoe dress code policy at the Vatican?
You must wear Prada, I think. Preferably red.
You must have footwear - bare feet are turned away.
more specifically - do women's shoes have to be closed toe or are sandals permitted?
Toes are permitted--imagine a monk, whose standard habit might include sandals.
Toes are permitted, but ankles and wrists must be covered.
Wait, scratch that last part.
There is nothing disrespectful about bare toes - so shoes are not an issue. You need to cover from knees to shoulders/upper arms (including bosom and midriff) for any adult sized person. Little kids (LITTLE - like 8 or 9) it's more flexible.

All right all you Fodor veterans take it easy on Ksmith63- she is new to the forum- you don't want to scare her off with all the sarcasim!
This is her first trip to Europe so be kind! |
Hello ksmith, sandals are fine. Do wear shoes that are comfortable as you will no doubt be on your feet for hours.
Shoulders and knees need to be covered up. So if you want to dress casual a pair of capris and a short sleeve top would be fine. Fodorite's like to tease at times so don't take it personal. And do have a wonderful time in beautiful Italy. |
Ok Ksmith now that you are a Fodorite paste in your vacation like the rest of us on the forum by clicking on the link below:
