can anyone advise what the vat tax is on clothing or handbags in paris .

But you don't get all 19.6% back if you do the refund.... I think I got back about 15 to 16 percent?

judlar - just in case you di not know this - the prices you see posted likely already include the VAT, unlike in the US where it is added at the time of purchase.

Part of the reason for the VAT refubnd's apparent shrinkage is that it is 19.6% of the underlying price, but since it is included in the price you pay, is is only about 16% of the amount you pay. Or, as my math teacher used to say, "Math is fun."
