vat refunds

Now you can process your Vat refund at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport
with more convenience.
Passengers can now scan their refund forms at one of the red self-service
machines located in the check-in area at every terminal and then again
through a second machine in the boarding lounge which confirms their
exit from France. 35 of these kiosks are there.

Good news. We had mucho trouble getting a VAT refund last September flying from Venice to the US. It took persistence, time and dogged determination but the reward was about $40 dollars.

So presumably you don't have to show what you purchased to a customs officer? Some countries seem to have been phasing that out or becoming more relaxed with accepting the answer, "It's in my checked luggage."

Good news is right; you never know how long that line is going to be, sometimes very short, but other times. . .
