Vasari Corridor In Firenze?

Hi, I was told today that the corridor was closed all thoughout 2004 and may not be open in 2005 either.
I googled but didn't come up with anything for 2005.

Has anyone been there recently?

Helen Donegan of Italywithus.com gives English language tours of the Vasari Corridor. She was giving tours last year I believe. It might be worth contacting her through the website.

The corridor is open. I missed the tour when I was there Jan. 2, though. You can sign up if you're early enough at the Uffizi. There are instructions on SlowTrav.com as to how to join the tours of the Vasari Corridor.

Hi, Helen D. is the person who told/wrote to me that it is closed (!).

I guess I will try at the Uffizi when we get there.

Thanks.

It was open when I was in Florence last November - but for guided tours only and they were all sold out for the days that we were there.

I have a 2003 guidebook which says the reservation line is 055 2654321. I don't know whether this number is still correct.

The same guidebook says that it is closed all summer - this was the case for 2004 (or that is what I was told by the reservation line when I phoned in May).

Good luck!

I was there last December and was told that it is not open to the public. But there are tours that take you into secret parts of the Palazzo Vecchio, which includes corridors etc. I can't remember what they were called but there were perhaps 2 different ones. I did one and it was good. In winter there are fewer English tours so be flexible with times. Tickets at the Palazzo Vecchio, which include entry to the palazzo itself.

TTT the phone number is disconnected, though they still refer you to it..does anyone know how to make bookings???

The Vasari corridor isn't open to the public yet this year. The only tours that go ahead are organised privately with special permission from the person incharge of the Uffizi.

Most companies I know have difficulty getting a group together for the right day and time etc. I have been thinking of linking everyone up and trying to get a tour going but have been working on the after hours tour of the Vatican first.
